La théorie diffère souvent de la réalité. L’adaptation d’une stratégie connaît toujours des aléas. Voici un report de ce que nous avons vu à Rock en Seine, et ce que nous en avons pensé. A chaud ! La suite viendra plus en détails.

A peine arrivés sur le site, nous nous sommes précipités à la scène de l’Industrie pour voir Roken Is Dodelijk. En chemin, j’entends All Time Low, qui semble être un habile apéritif à Blink 182, la tête d’affiche de ce soir.
Les Lillois de Roken Is Dodelijk ne sont pas souvent de passage sur Paris, aussi, c’était la première fois que je les voyais. Ils ont été à la hauteur de mes espérances, alliant brillamment intensité et légèreté. Le public était aussi plus important que ce que je redoutais : entre la pluie et l’horaire avancée de leur programmation, je ne pensais pas qu’ils seraient aussi nombreux à venir sur la petite scène de l’Industrie. Je raconterai plus en détails mes impressions dans un live-report plus complet.

Alors que j’échange mes impressions sur ce set, j’entends que Band of Horses commence son concert juste derrière moi. Pourquoi se priver ? Band of Horses a l’art des chansons très catchy comme sur ‘The General Specifics’. Les sonorités country de ‘Compliments’ ont quelque chose de berçant. Je ne m’attarde pas trop cela dit, car Kele commence déjà sur la grande scène.

En chemin, je ressens l’esprit festival dans les offres de ‘Free Hugs’ mais je résiste, je suis en retard. N’est-ce pas la tare des Parisiens ?

Kele Okereke n’est autre que le chanteur de Bloc Party qui vient de sortir son premier album solo The Boxer en juin dernier. Il a choisi Rock en Seine pour son tout premier concert en France. Kele nous a présenté un mélange de son world renouant avec ses origines et de l’électro qu’il a largement explorée au sein de son groupe. Mais je réserve mes observations pour le compte rendu détaillé.

Alors que tous se ruent sur Foals, qui a défrayé la chronique avec son deuxième album Total Live Forever, je décide d’aller traîner du côté de l’espace Ile-de-France pour écouter Idol. En effet, j’ai vu Foals aux Eurockéennes de Belfort, et leur manque de conviction sur scène m’avait déçue – tout comme le dernier album.

Idol c’est deux guitaristes et une chanteuse. Une coupe à la Sinead O’Connor, Eléonore en impose immédiatement de par sa voix. Elle joue sur les styles autant que sur les sonorités, les mélodies ont l’empreinte d’un dimanche après-midi : à la fois joyeuses et mélancoliques. Cette première écoute était bien sympathique, j’attends le premier album prévu pour debut 2011.

Poussée par la nostalgie, et ce malgré mes recommandations d’aller écouter Beast, je suis des amis vers la Grande Scène pour Skunk Anansie. Skin n’a rien perdu de sa superbe au fil des années et en quelques sauts, elle sait rappeler pourquoi elle a tant marqué la fin des années 90. J’ai réellement envie de vous raconter pourquoi elle m’a émue, rendez-vous mardi pour le compte-rendu détaillé.

Retour à l’espace Ile-deFrance pour voir baden baden. Le groupe a connu quelques modifications depuis la dernière fois que je les ai vus : leur clavier est parti. Si je regrette ses doigts de fée qui donnaient un côté magique à leur compositions, je ne peux que constater le son plus lourd qu’ils ont adopté pour compenser ce départ. Néanmoins, si l’orientation est plus rock, le côté électro me manque un peu. A suivre.

En sortant, je me dirige vers la Cascade, mais à l’approche de la scène, j’entends des effluves de ‘She Moves In Her OWn Way’. Si j’ai aimé The Kooks pour leur pop sur fond de reggae à leurs débuts en 2006 avec Inside In/Inside Out, je n’ai pas suivi sur Konk. Gros mouvement de foule, nous voilà partis pour le balai des grosses têtes d’affiche. On commence par Cypress Hill. Je ne suis pas une experte du genre, et je n’ai pas envie de juger un style avec lequel je ne suis pas familière. J’ai aimé les jeux de percussions mais je n’ai pu retenir un fou rire à la vue de tous ces doigts brandis sur ‘Jump Around‘ comme toute la foule se revendiquait du ghetto. C’est la preuve ultime de l’influence que Cypress Hill a pu avoir autant au sein du hip-hop que dans tous les styles de musique – rien que le fait d’être programmés en tête d’affiche de Rock en Seine en dit long.

Tant bien que mal, je me suis faufilée jusqu’à la Cascade pour aller écouter Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Ne les ayant jamais vus, j’avais eu peur que le décès de Michael Been, (ingé son et père du bassiste) ne les oblige à annuler leur apparition à Rock en Seine. Ce deuil qui aurait-il entaché leur performance ? Le fait est que je n’ai rien ressenti à l’écoute de leur set. Sur la scène inondée de fumée, je n’ai aperçu que des ombres immobiles. Pour des représentants d’un classic rock au cœur des années 2000, j’attendais plus de ferveur scénique.

Enfin arrive le moment que des milliers de t-shirts attendaient : les rois du pop-punk, j’ai nommé Blink 182, entrent en scène. Mais une reformation et deux heures de concert ne se résument pas en quelques lignes. Vous attendrez lundi.

Obnubilée par mes années teenage que j’étais, j’en ai loupé deadmau5 ! J’ai essayé de me rattraper en allant voir Underworld dont je ne connaissais vraiment que leur travail en bande son (notamment Trainspotting, The Beach, Breaking and Entering et Sunshine de Danny Boyle). J’ai trouvé le mélange des sons intéressant, témoin d’une récherche musicale poussée. Mais la surexploitation d’un sample m’a lassée. Je n’ai pas poussé la curiosité. Plus tard j’entendrai ‘Born Slippy’ au loin.

En conclusion, j’aimerai ajouter que beaucoup ont accusé la programmation d’être essentiellement composée de groupes qui ont connu la gloire dans les années 90. Mais ce ne serait réduire un festival à ses têtes d’affiche et ne pas prêter attention aux plus petites scènes ou aux groupes qui ont joué en après-midi.
